SOP
SOP stands for Potassium Sulphate, also known as sulfate of potash. It’s a popular potassium fertiliser used in agriculture. SOP is composed of two key nutrients: potassium (K) and sulphur (S). The potassium content is typically around 50% K2O, and the sulfur content is approximately 17-18%. It is highly soluble in water, making it readily available to plants when applied to the soil.
It provides plants with potassium, an essential nutrient involved in various physiological processes like photosynthesis, water uptake, and nutrient transport within the plant.
SOP also supplies sulphur, another essential nutrient required for the synthesis of amino acids and proteins in plants.
Unlike some other potassium fertilisers such as potassium chloride (Muriate of Potash, or MOP), SOP is chloride-free. This makes it suitable for chloride-sensitive crops like tobacco, fruits, and certain vegetables.
