Compound fertilisers are blends of different fertiliser materials containing two or more of the essential nutrients required for plant growth. These nutrients typically include nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), often referred to as NPK fertilisers. Compound fertilisers are formulated to provide plants with a balanced supply of these nutrients, tailored to specific crops or soil types.
There are two main types of compound fertilisers:
Granular Compound Fertilisers: These are solid, granular formulations where different nutrients are physically mixed together in each granule. Each granule contains a specific ratio of nutrients, allowing for more precise application and nutrient uptake by plants.
Blended Compound Fertilisers: In blended fertilizers, the individual fertiliser materials containing different nutrients are mixed together in desired proportions to create a uniform mixture. Unlike granular compound fertilisers, where each granule contains all nutrients, blended fertilisers may appear as separate particles of different nutrient sources.
